Pierogi are filled dumplings of Central and Eastern European origin (Poland/Ukraine), made by wrapping unleavened dough around a savory or sweet filling and cooking in boiling water, or pan-frying.
Mrs. T's cheddar and potato perogies have been a staple in my house since my kids were very young. I admit that I haven't ever tried to make perogies from scratch, because for us, Mrs. T's are great! My youngest son can eat a whole box by himself! I get them out of the freezer, into boiling water for a minute to just thaw them, and then strain and pat dry. I heat a pan with butter and fry them up, using some salt and pepper as they cook. They are a great snack, or we eat them as a side with a roast, sausage and cabbage, any meat and veg! They are so good with sour cream, too!
